Cheese and Sausage Production and Thermoforming
This presentation showcases machines manufactured and integrated by Rossum Integration for customers in the food industry. Each one is a unique, purpose-built solution. Every machine comes into direct contact with open food products, or produces the food itself. This places the highest demands on cycle times, product handling and hygienic design. All of the examples presented are built around Stäubli robotic solutions, specifically robots in the HE (Humid Environment) version, engineered for the harsh conditions of food production.

Use your Robot like a CNC machine
The Technology Package bundles all hardware and software components required to run CNC applications with a Stäubli robot. This plug-and-play system allows you to connect your robot to the controller with a single cable. As an integrator, it is possible to expand the installation with your own hardware, PLC components, software and process components. The process (milling, welding, sanding, laser cutting, etc.) is predefined and tailored to your machine. Technology Package is the perfect match for integrators to execute processes.

Bin-Picking with unknown or unsorted items - Challenges and success factors
In our short presentation, you will learn how aerne engineering experienced different types of bin-picking applications. A CAD matching bin-picking application we have successfully implemented with Stäubli robots in one of our assembly machines is one part of the presentation. The second part – and probably the more challenging one – is about unknown or unsorted items to be picked automatically out of bins for further processing. We will talk about the status of technologies for real applications, the challenges and success factors. Be prepared for the aerne engineering "Reality Check" on bin-picking solutions.

Is the Kitchen the Next Factory?
How AI, Robotics, and Mechanical Engineering Are Reshaping the Hospitality Industry
Commercial kitchens and foodservice operations are increasingly evolving into connected production systems. Labor shortages, rising costs, stringent quality requirements, and the need to reduce food waste are accelerating the adoption of AI, robotics, and data-driven process control.

This presentation explores specific automation opportunities across the entire process chain, from production planning and robot-assisted food preparation to internal logistics and camera-based quality control. It focuses on how proven expertise from mechanical engineering and industrial automation can be adapted to the unique requirements of the hospitality industry.

Thomas Mertens will also demonstrate how SBI, BOT BOX, and the ZIM innovation network TUM HINT within the HospitalityTech Hub bring together hospitality, research, and mechanical engineering to turn technological concepts into pilot-ready, scalable solutions.

Mobile Robots in GMP Cleanrooms - New Possibilities to meet regulatory expectations
Mobile robotics is increasingly finding its way into pharmaceutical cleanroom environments – but what exactly is behind this technology, and why is it gaining traction only now? This talk begins with a brief introduction to mobile robotics and its underlying operating principles, before exploring the technological and regulatory developments that are only now making the deployment of mobile robots in GMP-regulated areas practical.

The core of the talk analyzes concrete challenges in cleanroom operations that mobile robots can address - from reducing human-borne contamination sources to automating recurring monitoring and transport tasks. Building on this, the talk examines how mobile robotics can contibute to meeting regulatory expectations, particularly regarding data integrity, process consistency, and traceability.

Finally, the talk openly addresses the current challenges - technical, regulatory, and organizational - and highlights the opportunities that mobile robotics in cleanrooms offers pharmaceutical companies.
